On the morning of Friday, January 25, 2002, Christopher “Chris” Carlton Thompkins kissed his mother, Ann McKenzie, goodbye and drove off to work. That was the last time she saw him alive as Chris vanished off the road in front of the survey crew he was walking with later that day.
One of his boots, some coins, and some material from his jeans were located near where he disappeared, and then another boot was found some months later.
What or who snatched Chris off the road? Was it a racially motivated attack or something stranger? No screams or commotion were detected. His remains have never been found despite extensive searches of the immediate area—a weird disappearance from Georgia.
